Ethan's Top Five Reasons Why a Marriage Delayed
Is a Marriage Improved:
1. It is only
through fully understanding who you are that you can become part of
a couple. Those who look to marriages to "complete them"
or fill a hole in their lives are better off adopting a dog.
2. Statistically
speaking, later marriages are less likely to end in divorce. In fact,
later marriages are responsible for the recent decline in the divorce
rate.
3. There are
many benefits to later parenting. (see "Ethan's
Top Five Reasons To Be Happy about the Prospect of Being an Older Parent")
4. Financial
worries are fewer. This means not only that older couples have more
resources but also that when financial concerns do come up, they're
more likely to have the knowledge and maturity to handle them.
5. The predictable
post-30 drop in hormones in both men and women make them less likely
to fall prey to "wandering eyes," "the seven-year itch," and similar
marriage-ending betrayals.
